Late Warrior President Mapampule Hendrick Shai commemorated. One year later the Civic Warriors of Maruleng fulfilled what they announced last year on the occasion of the birthday celebrations of their slain leader. The president, Mr. Poopo Mohlabe declared then that February shall henceforth be commemorated as Mapampole Month and that this will be done through the hosting of a series of activities dedicated to the undying spirit of The Great Warrior. The man who epitomized a fight against crime and an unfettered commitment to rural development. The ranks of the party he carved and led are swelling by the day and it now virtually resembles a national character through deed and commitment to social cohesion and equity.
Today Saturday, 3rd February 2018, the anniversary of his death marked yet another milestone in the life of the party he led with distinction. The Khudu sports ground was glossed green with the party regalia and one could feel unity within its ranks through song and chant. The event was three pronged: first it was the annual celebrations, the unveiling of a tombstone in his honour and then followed by formalization of a white wedding he had planned before his untimely death. Such was the character of the man and his party and the membership at large took yet another vow that they will never fail their deceased leader.
Civic Warriors of Maruleng has grown in leaps and bounds and as the month progresses there are a number of activities planned that will take place in his honour. “We are going to visit all the schools he had taught at and embark on a massive cleaning campaign” said President Mohlabe. He further announced that this will be followed by a visit to the local hospital in order to interface with patients and to get to know and understand the kind of challenges they are facing at the facility. An inaugural Memorial Lecture will also be held. The climax to the Mapampole Month will be the hosting of a commemorative convoy that will start at his home village of Lorraine to The Oaks and back. This convoy will take place at the end of the month of February.
The uniting spirit of The Great Warrior continues to inspire collaboration amongst like-minded formations and the community at large. Messages of support came from the Economic Freedom Fighters and the Democratic Alliance who have been working very closely with the Warriors to fight corruption in the Maruleng municipality. Their collaboration is beginning to bear the much needed results in terms of rooting out corruption and maximizing focus on service delivery. This departure from the lackluster performance of the governing African National Congress will surely serve as a relief to the people of Maruleng. The Civic Warriors of Maruleng is an embodiment of social justice and this is exemplified by its readiness to confront corruption, focus on local development with the people as their own liberators.
As The Great Warrior lives on, the community of Maruleng is once more taken serious and befitting of respect. The factional tendencies that characterized the local municipality for too long are starting to disintegrate like a house of cards. Political demagoguery is facing one of the stiffest challenges in history and the fighting spirit of The Great Warrior continues to sharpen real agents and cadres for social transformation and economic emancipation. In the annals of history Civic Warriors of Maruleng will remain a guiding force towards prosperity and into posterity. The Great Warrior lives on!
