It is very satisfying and encouraging that this spirit of Botho is practiced by the military a very critical institution in the health of our democratic country. The processing of this military ritual brings home the fact that society at large can take care of itself, create unity and prosper. Looking at spouses and relatives of the fallen heroes and heroines laying wreaths demonstrated beyond imagination that the departed officers have indeed laid a solid foundation to an everlasting safety and security for our nascent democracy. The precision displayed by the commanding officers in laying the wreaths was the pinnacle of the essence of the memorial service as it displayed how much the military cares for its members.

In the end the memorial service highlighted to members of society the importance of camaraderie in life and in death. It also provided positive impetus on the serving women and men of the military that their service doesn’t go unnoticed. This annual memorial service is a true testimony of the fruits of good deeds. As the National Flag was lowered down to half-mast and the observance of two minutes silence was ritualized the reality came crystal that the country has indeed lost great compatriots.
